Acty was born in Hong Kong and resided in South Africa from 1990-2010. He received his B.A. and M.F.A degree from Rhodes University, South Africa.

Acty is a performer, teacher and choreographer. He has been working as a dance and drama teacher (Masters and Honours levels) and an external examiner for varies universities for many years. He was also the recipient of the 2007 Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Dance.

Throughout the years, Acty has been performing at many important festivals and dance performances in USA and South Africa.
