Lydia Ayers is a Hong Kong-based puppeteer who is the Artistic Director of Foggy Sound Garden, a company specializing in shadow puppet and black light puppet productions. She is the daughter of puppeteer Joe Ayers, and grew up with shadow puppets, marionettes, hand puppets and rod puppets. In addition to performing in the company’s productions, she has created most of the puppets and the music.
She composes for live instruments and computer music sounds. Groups performing her compositions range from the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong to the Da Capo Chamber Players in New York City. Her Virtual Gamelan CD has been released on Albany Records and she has also authored Cooking with Csound: Woodwind and Brass Recipes. She plays flutes from all over the world, especially Native American and Chinese flutes, with performances ranging from Hong Kong to Buenos Aires.
