Manuela Catania is an Italian designer based in Hong Kong. She graduated in architecture with 110/110 cum laude (distinction) from the University of Palermo. She also holds a Master in Accessories and Jewellery Design from Domus Academy Milan and Master of Arts from the University of Wales with a thesis about jewellery design with Swarovski. She specialised in Fashion Design at IED Moda Lab Milan and in Fashion System at IED Venice. In Milan she launched her first jewellery collection made by Murano glass and exhibited during Milan Design Week. In 2012 she moved to Malaysia to teach Fashion Design at Esmod University in Kuala Lumpur. She lived and worked in Sao Paulo, Dubai and Shenzhen. Currently she is teaching fashion design and interior design in Hong Kong.
Manuela says, “I use my design to create emotions and feelings between objects and people, between people and spaces. I like mixing the details of jewellery with the elegance of interior design, the sensitivity of textile with the functionality of the product. I believe that every trip can be a chance to discover a new design inspiration.”
